Planning internship at Fytche-Taylor Planning – graduate level planning consultancy role

About Fytche-Taylor Planning

Fytche-Taylor Planning is a specialist planning consultancy providing clear, strategic advice and consultancy services to landowners, developers, businesses and institutions across the UK.

Our work spans a wide range of sectors including residential, commercial, rural and leisure development, helping clients navigate the planning system and unlock development opportunities.

As a dynamic and well-respected consultancy, we work closely with our clients and take a practical, commercially focused approach to planning. This means team members quickly gain exposure to real projects, clients and decision-making, providing valuable experience for those starting their career in planning.

The Opportunity

You will work under the leadership of one of our Senior Planning Consultants, gaining direct experience of how planning consultancy operates in practice.

You will have the opportunity to contribute to projects across a diverse range of clients - from major landowners and regional developers to professional sports organisations and rural estates. The role will involve a varied workload and exposure to many aspects of the business, including:

  • Planning research and policy review

  • Assisting with the preparation and coordination of planning applications

  • Supporting the preparation of planning statements and reports

  • Managing client contact and new enquiries, and assisting with general project coordination

  • Coordinating technical reports and project information

  • Undertaking site visits and assisting with project monitoring

  • Liaising with clients, consultants and local authorities

  • Supporting business development initiatives

  • Helping organise and attend industry events and networking opportunities, including creative input into events such as the Lincolnshire Show

The role will be primarily office-based, allowing you to learn directly from experienced planners, with opportunities for site visits, meetings and industry events. The position is full-time, based on a 37-hour working week.

Early Responsibility and Real Project Exposure

As part of a dynamic consultancy team, you will quickly become involved in live projects and client work. Rather than simply observing, you will be contributing to research, application preparation, project coordination and client communication.

This provides valuable experience of how planning consultancy operates in practice and offers early exposure to the full lifecycle of development projects, from initial strategy through to planning applications and decision-making.
