That Padel Club: Padel Tennis - 32,000sqft Sports Centre - Planning Permission Granted
New Leisure Site Approved | Newark, Nottinghamshire

'That Padel Club': New Padel Tennis Centre in Newark - Full Planning Application and Site Design by Fytche-Taylor
Beginning with our client’s vision to create a standout destination for padel in Newark, Nottinghamshire, That Padel Club has already made a major impact. Their mission is clear: to redefine the UK padel experience with high-end, stylish and effortlessly cool facilities.
Following our planning approval and design work, the long-vacant brownfield site near Newark town centre has been transformed into a thriving new sports hub. Once an overlooked corner of Newark Industrial Estate, it is now a high-energy venue attracting players from across the region.
Fytche-Taylor Planning led the project from start to finish - shaping the planning strategy, coordinating supporting reports and refining the site layout and building design. The finished development delivers four purpose-built padel courts within a modern portal-frame building topped with a domed roof, creating a fully covered, all-weather playing space with internal floodlighting.
The site makes use of the existing access from Whittle Close and includes a well-planned parking area with 21 car spaces and 8 cycle spaces, supporting smooth visitor flow and sustainable travel.
Before: A Long-Dormant Industrial Plot
Once a neglected brownfield parcel on the fringes of Newark Industrial Estate, this site sat unused for years — a silent space tucked beside Lincoln Road Sports Ground.
Its past was defined by vacancy and decay, a remnant of industrial activity now long gone.

After: A Vibrant Padel Destination
On opening, Newark’s first purpose-built padel facility quickly made its mark. The development provides four covered all-weather courts housed within a striking portal-frame structure topped with a domed roof. Floodlit for evening play, the courts are designed to cater to players year-round. Surrounding infrastructure includes 21 car parking spaces, 8 cycle racks, and accessible entry from Whittle Close — all contributing to a modern, sustainable hub for sport.
Padel Tennis is growing fast across the UK, and this center puts Newark firmly on the padel map. With transparent glass enclosure, spectators can watch matches with ease, and the design reflects a commitment to both community and recreation.

Why It Matters
This isn’t just a sporting venue - it’s brownfield regeneration at its finest. By converting a long-neglected industrial site into a community leisure asset, the development boosts local infrastructure, promotes healthy lifestyles, and supports sustainable transport choices.
