Project Summary
Fytche-Taylor Planning successfully secured full planning permission for a major site expansion at the established metal recycling plant operated by 2 Recycling Ltd in Grantham, Lincolnshire. The approved scheme enables the installation of new hardstanding areas for open-air storage and the construction of a landscaped earth bund to improve visual and residential amenity.
This important upgrade supports the growing operational needs of the business while ensuring compliance with all planning, environmental and design requirements.
The Approved Development
Planning permission was obtained for:
New impermeable hardstanding areas for the storage of empty metal containers
A 1.8m high landscaped earth bund along the eastern boundary to protect neighbouring amenity
These storage areas will be used solely for empty metal bins awaiting reuse within the recycling process. The business operates a maximum container stack height of 4.4m, ensuring that storage remains lower than the height of the existing industrial building and visually assimilates into the site.
Importantly, the development does not increase the site’s operational capacity or traffic levels. Instead, it allows the business to operate more efficiently and safely by freeing up yard space previously used for ad-hoc storage.
